We love to help and when we see our team members put time and energy into activities that make a change we are right there to back them up. That is why we had to support this amazing effort.
Sabrina is our colleague who works in our marketing department and besides that she is a published author writing for the biggest publishing house in Europe. After some difficult situations in her family, she started losing hair until she found bald patches on her scalp. She later discovered she had alopecia areata.
Of course she was shocked and scared in the beginning but then she turned her situation into something that helps others.
Her book Princess with no hair tells a story about princess Isabelle who lost her golden locks and had to come to terms with it. The story evolves the same way as it evolves within the families where children have alopecia or are fighting cancer and because of chemotherapy, they are losing hair. Their loved ones and friends pitch in to help and try to make those affected feel better.
Not only does the book bring comfort, but it does much more. Proceeds from the sales fund wigs made from human hair.
Wigs from human hair are very expensive but they look natural, and the skin underneath doesn’t suffer but unfortunately not many families can afford to purchase them.
We thought it was a great effort, so we bought hundreds of copies of the book and distributed it during a health conference in Prague to help spread the awareness.
We were also happy to find out that the wig we helped to fund brought a smile back to the face of one little princess.
